William Scott Goodwin

William was born April 13, 1969 in Gainesville, FL to Donald Richard Goodwin, Sr. and Sue (Junker) Goodwin. He passed away July 28, 2016 in Eugene, OR. Wil graduated from Bloomington High School North in 1987, where he was on the Computer Science Co-Op Program, and Vincennes University in 1992 with an AA in Archaeology. He also attended Indiana University Bloomington and Ivy Tech Bloomington majoring in Computer Science and Archaeology. He was an Eagle Scout in Troop 100 of the Hoosier Trails Council of the Boy Scouts of America. For his qualifying community service project he designed and built a shelter house with was donated to Marlin Elementary School, it still stands in good stead today. Only one in a hundred boy who begin Scouting ever earns the distinguished honor and privilege to wear the Eagle Badge. He was member of the Order of the Arrow. He was a camp counselor at Ramsburg BS Camp, he also attended the Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, NM. A music lover, he had a large collection on vinyl, CD's and tapes; he played several instruments. Wil was an avid gardener, everywhere he lived he could find a plot of ground to grow things. He also enjoyed archaeology, astronomy, cooking, camping and stamp collecting. He participated in the Hilly Hundred and ran in marathons; he played on ice hockey teams. He had many pets through the years, his favorites were a pony born in his land and Sasha, his cat, who lived to be 22 years old. He had been employed at Ear Wax and Sahara Mart in Bloomington; owned his own company "WIL HAUL' and worked at Cosco in CA, he has also worked as a caregiver. Wil helped start Rhinos, a club for teenagers in Bloomington. Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Amy (Christopher) Goodwin; sons, Alexander Maximillian Nicholas Goodwin and Aidan Anthony Marcus Goodwin of Eugene, OR; mother, Sue Goodwin of Danville, IN; father-in-law, Dr. and Mrs John Christopher of Elk Grove, CA; sister-in-law, Shannon Carrothers of Springfield, OR; sister, Jane (Gregory) Marshall of Bloomington; brother, Kevin (Diana Hoard) of Ellettsville, Donald (Sheila) of Bloomington; nieces and nephews, Betsy Marshall (Cabren Gooch) and grand nephew, Ryan Gooch, Christopher Marshall, and Kyle and Mara Goodwin, all of Bloomington; aunts and uncles, Patricia and John Kuyrkendall of Beaver Dam, WI, Dr. Michael and Linda Junker of Baton Rouge, LA, Barbara and Robert Goodwin of Kalamazoo, MI, Gwendolyn and Mark Goodwin, Sr. of Bloomington, Penelope Junker of Danville, IN; cousins, Suzanne Olaivar of Hoopston, IL, Sean Brunk of Champaign, IL, David Goodwin of Bothell, WA, Stephen Goodwin of Orlando, FL, Katherine Goodwin of Denver, CO, Penelope Piercy of Magnolia, TX, Walter Goodwin, Jr. of Indianapolis, Jacque Kadlec of Prescott, AZ, Pamela Moons of Burlington, ON Canada, Debra Goodwin of Bloomington, Mark Goodwin, Jr. of Holland, IN; best friend, Michael Fragzssi of Chicago, IL and many friends and relatives. Wil was preceded in death by his father, Donald R. Goodwin, Sr.; grandparents, Donald and Mary Junker and Ruth and Irwin Goodwin; sister-in-law, Heather Christopher Tringile; cousins, Michael and Mark Junker; aunts and uncles, Dorothy and Paul Roberts and Eloise and Walter Goodwin. A Celebration of Life will be held on September 23, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lower Cascades Park, Sycamore Shelter House in Bloomington, Indiana. Burial will be private at Payne Cemetery. Memorial contributions in William's name may be made to he charity of one's choice. Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville is assisting with arrangements.
