Bruce Allen Parrott

Bruce Allen Parrott Born April 23, 1952. son of Monroe Parrott, Jr. and Bertha Lee (Hemingway) Parrott. Bruce went home to be with the Lord on January 24, 2016. Bruce was born in Gary, Indiana and graduated from Westside High school and later graduated from Indiana State University in 1976. He worked for U.S. Steel, Color Tile, Pizza Hut, Denny’s, and several other Restaurants as Manager and Area 10 Agency on Aging. Bruce was a faithful member of the Ellettsville House of Prayer. He was a 13-year member of the Unchained Gang and a member of the Men of HOPE. Bruce loved God and he loved his family. Bruce is preceded in death by his Father, Monroe Parrott, Jr.; his Mother, Bertha Parrott; his brother Stanley Parrott; his daughter: Sonja Parrott and granddaughter Gabriella Michelle Parrott. He is survived by his wife; Jeannette Lane Parrott (Kemp); his sons, Bruce Parrott (Kasey); and Michael (Rebecca) Parrott; two brothers: Monroe Parrott, III, and Marvin Parrott and one sister Sandra Crittenden; seven grandchildren: Sonja; Keyanna; Bruce III (Trey); Isabella; Michael Jr; Vincent Monroe and Elam and a host of nieces and nephews. Bruce loved spending time with his grandkids; riding his motorcycle; playing cards; watching westerns; hanging out with his family and traveling with the Gang. He loved ministering in the jails and prisons. He loved picking Isabella up from preschool and going to get “creams”. He liked exchanging jokes with Sonja and hearing Keyanna belt out a new song or show a new “dance” move. Bruce was uniquely himself and felt no need to apologize for walking a different path. As his grandson Bruce III says, “Grandad is just lots of fun”. All of the nieces and nephews knew Bruce was a “real” uncle and had no problem in sharing, caring, giving advice and (opinion!), showing up when he needed, and on occasion opening up his wallet. He was someone that could be counted on. Bruce was a unique brother to his whole HOPE family and will be sorely missed! A Celebration of Life will be held at the Ellettsville House of Prayer on Friday, January 29, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Larry Mitchell officiating. A visitation with his family will be on Friday one hour prior to the Celebration of Life.
