Catherine Mae Dusenbery

Catherine Mae Dusenbery passed away peacefully Sunday June 25, 2017 at the age of 93. She was born in her beloved Plattsburgh, New York to William and Beatrice Duesberg on January 21, 1924. She was the 5th of 6 children. In April 1943, she married Ernest Dusenbery. Together they moved to Gosport, Indiana and raised five children. Having the love and support from her dear mother-in-law, Grace, her children and their growing families became her life pur-pose, but always cherishing the love she had for her family in New York. Catherine enjoyed writing and telling stories about her treasured memories growing up, especially those involving her brother, Buddy and her dad. A smile would always cross her face when she would reflect on her children, trips she had taken with them, picnics at the park, playing in the sandbox with the grandkids, and even poker games. Holidays were always special; Cookie Day at Christmas, Popcorn Balls at Halloween, and the best pies at simple family gatherings. Catherine was at her happiest when her family was together, laughing, eating, having fun and loving one another. Her home was the gathering place for many decades and where her commitment to keeping her family close and connected in each other’s lives took shape. Her home was a learning play-ground for multiple generations on how to care, love, play, and enjoy family. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Beatrice Duesberg; her siblings, Mildred, Harold, Helen, Robert (Buddy) and Elizabeth; her husband, Ernest Dusenbery; her grandson, Ryan Spiegel. Catherine will be missed by her children, Kathleen Carroll (Paul), Mary Lou Sipe, William Dusenbery (Terri), Barbara Dusenbery, Richard Dusenbery (Mary); her sister-in-law, Deloris Clouse, as well as her many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Chandler Funeral Home-Whitaker Chapel in Gosport. Burial is to follow at Gosport Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, our family would love for you to take the opportunity to spend a special day or time with those you love.
