Delores "Dee" Jo Ringler

Delores “Dee” Jo Ringler of Quincy, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2015 at her home. She was born August 23, 1929 in Indianapolis to Allen & Dona (Jordan) Higginbotham who preceded her in death. On June 3, 1946 she began a 68 year marriage to Roy Richard Ringler of Indianapolis. After marrying Roy, they moved to Owen County and raised five children. Delores worked at the Owen County Clerk’s office for several years. She was a member of the Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority, Gosport Chapter, and belonged to the Harrison Homemakers club for over 50 years. Delores was also a leader for the Harrison Hotshot 4-H Club and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Gosport. She was a lifelong Democrat, served as Harrison Township Trustee and remained involved in the Democratic Party. Surviving Delores are her sons, Roy Allen (Tammy) Ringler of Quincy, Gary Lee (Rita) Ringler of Spencer, Mark Richard Ringler of Quincy; daughter, Janet (Fred) Ringler Shufflebarger of Quincy; and daughter-in-law, Paula Ringler (Jim Klute) of North Carolina. She had ten grandchildren, Lance Ringler of Ellettsville, Amy Jo Parrish of Santa Rosa, FL, Ryan Ringler of Eminence, Reid Ringler of Martinsville, Lindsay Knowles of Indianapolis, Miranda Fell of Boston, MA, Heather Grindstaff of Martinsville, Jesse Ringler of Martinsville, Jeff Ringler of Indianapolis, and Ciara Ringler of Bloomington. Delores had seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving is brother-in-law, Frank Ringler of Indianapolis; sister-in-law, Phyllis Ringler Stapleton of Mooresville and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death not only by her parents, but her son, Leslie D. Ringler and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles and Emma (Ringler) Owen. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 at Chandler Funeral Home-Whitaker Chapel in Gosport. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Donald Jordan, cousin of Delores, giving the eulogy. Delores will be laid to rest at Gosport Cemetery next to her son Leslie. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michael J.
