Helen Mccullough

Helen Mccullough of Bloomington passed away Saturday morning at her home at the age of 87. Helen was born July 21, 1924 to James and Dora (Livingston) Barger in Bloomington, Indiana. She was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church. She was a homemaker, a member of a community sewing circle and a member of the Dixie Club. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, crocheting, and playing cards with her lady friends, having company would always make her happy. During her last year her granddaughter Linette lived with her and served as her best buddy and private nurse. They would take day long outings to shop for their quilting supplies. Helen is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Sam) Williams, Lebra (Jim) Smith, and Mila (Gary) Norman; three sisters, Lois Gray, Virginia Johnson, and Patricia (Hal) Fabriz; brother, Richard Barger; six grandchildren, Lora Gilbert, Linette Horn, Nathan (Misti) McCullough, Miles McCullough, Bryce Norman, and Adriane Norman; three step-grandchildren, Stacy (Chris) Bottorff, Robbie(Terri) Smith, Jerry Smith; nine great-grandchildren, Brandon, Desmond, Keisha Gilbert, Lindsay, Briar, Jaxson, Curtis, Carson McCullough and Xavier Blake Norman; three step-great grandchildren, Ashley Bottorff, Caitlyn (Christopher) Warner and Trevor Littlejohn, and one step-great-great grandchild, Emma Warner. She married James McCullough on October 29, 1942. He preceded her in death on May 20th, 2000. She was also preceded in death by son, Kirby McCullough in June 2007; two sisters, Francis Fielder, and Gloria Jean Barger; and three brothers, George Howard, Herschel Barger and Bill Barger,. The family would like to thank IU Health Bloomington Hospice and Home Instead for their help in giving her loving care in her final days. Donations can be made to IU Health Bloomington Hospice. Funeral Services will be held at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville Tuesday, October 25th at 1:00 p.m. The Reverend Steve Brown will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, October 24th from 4 to 8 PM and Tuesday, October 25th from 11 until time of services at the funeral home.
