Jackie "Jack" D Jarrett

Jackie D. “Jack” Jarrett, 77, of Kokomo passed away at his residence on Wednesday, August 17, 2016. Jack was born on October 28, 1938 in Russiaville to Mary Margaret (Fagen) and Ross G. Jarrett. He was a 1956 graduate of Kokomo High School. After graduation Jack joined the U.S. Navy where he was assigned to the U.S.S Rival-CMSO 468 Command Base in Charleston, S.C. On June 25, 1957 he married Jacqueline “Starr” Peel. Jack retired from Schembre Beverage in 1989. He then managed Ray’s Drive in for many years. He was loved and respected by all. Jack spent several years involved with the East side little league and coached Babe Ruth baseball for the Colonels. He was also involved for many years with the Kokomo Highlanders. He served on the board for the Crisis Center for 2 years. Jack enjoyed playing euchre, gin and poker not to mention the occasional trip to the riverboat, horse track and bingo parlor. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Louie Raub and Robert Jarrett; sisters, Marilyn Jean Sparger and Mary D. Elmer; and son-in-law, Carl T. Johnson. Jack is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jacqueline “Starr” (Peel) Jarrett; children, Penny Johnson of Las Vegas, NV, David Jarrett (Darla) of Bloomington, Stacey Webb (Tony) of Las Vegas, NV, and Larry Jarrett (Jennifer) of Nolanville, TX; nine grandchildren, Lindsey Spoonmore (Eric), Kiley Jarrett (Brittany), Abigail Marie Jarrett, Declan Patrick Jarrett, Karen Webb, Tina Wargo (Tim), Gabrielle Marks Johnson, Aaron Kinney, and Aaric Smoot; five great-grandchildren, Ella Grace Spoonmore, Jared Webb, Nathan Webb, Taylor Marie Wargo, and Kara Ray Kinney; many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins; two dearest friends Steve Waddell and Robert Rosenbaum and his furry four legged baby, Pookie. The family would like to thank Jack’s nieces, Chrissy, Lisa, and Cathy and close family friend Sandy Glassburn for the loving care they showed to Jack and Starr during his illness. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2016 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Holiday Inn at 511 Albany Street. Kokomo. Please dress casually. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Howard County Animal Shelter, 1713 N. Elizabeth, Kokomo, IN 46901.
