Mary Evelyn Figg

Mary Evelyn Williams Figg passed away on Monday, May 11, 2015 at Monroe Hospital in Bloomington at the age of 88. Mary Evelyn was born on March 19, 1927, the youngest child of John Rice and Myrtle Hattie (Lemon) Williams. Mary Evelyn graduated from Bloomington High School with the class of 1945. During her senior year of high school she worked for James Register, Attorney at Law. She continued to work in law offices working for James Kent, Robert McCrea until their untimely deaths. She ended her 60 year career working for David, Edward and Aaron McCrea of McCrea and McCrea retiring in 2003. Mary was a devoted member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 604, in Bloomington serving in many capacities. Mary and Bill were members of the Big Red Winnies Winnebago Club, traveling around the country. She was a member of the Ellettsville First Baptist Church. Mary Evelyn married Lester “Bill” Figg on May 4, 1946. She is survived by their children, John William Figg (Lois Allen), Larry D. (Karen) Figg, Mary Lynn (Barry) Robinson and Thomas L. (Lisa) Figg; dearly loved grandchildren who she loved to spend time with, John (Monica) Figg II, Janna (Marty) Deckard, Joni (Jonathan) Bennett, Joshua Figg, Jessica Morrow, Christie (Jeff) VanHorn, Kyle Robinson, Mackenzie Robinson (Tyler McCall) and Jordan Figg. Also surviving are dearly loved great-grandchildren, Hannah Figg, Evan Higgins, Drew Figg, Dillon, Carson, Blake, and Lane Deckard, Abigail Figg, Zoe and Cameron Morrow, Gavin and Brayden Robinson, along with several nieces and nephews. Mary Evenlyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill Figg; sisters, Waneta Blakely, and Lois Summitt; brothers, Clifton A. (Bill) and John McClellan (Mac) Williams, and great-granddaughter, Emma Barrow. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at the Ellettsville First Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Mark Villanova officiating. Burial is to follow at Presbyterian Cemetery. Visitation will be at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville on Friday, May 15, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00.
