Stanley Danell Parrott

Stanley Parrott, 55, of Bloomington went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at IU Health-Bloomington Hospital. Stanley was born in Gary, Indiana on December 4, 1958 to Monroe Parrott Jr. and Bertha Parrott (Hemmingway). Stanley graduated from West Side High School and married his high school sweetheart Sheryl Taylor (Boone). They had three children together but two of them passed away while they were babies. They were married for thirteen years before parting ways. Stanley worked in the steel mill located in Gary for several years. He also worked for a janitorial cleaning service in Gary. In 1997, Stanley moved to Ellettsville with his brother, Bruce Parrott where he worked various jobs before working at Area 10 on Aging as a janitor. Stanley volunteered with Meals on Wheels delivering food to senior citizens and every Friday he would play Bible bingo at Richland Bean Blossom Nursing Home. Stanley was a faithful member of the House of Prayer where he sang in the Hearts of Fire Choir. It was at church where he met his second wife, Carolyn Sue Parrott. He also was the church’s chef until he became ill. Stanley was very active in the church and attended several classes that were offered at the church. He was also a faithful member of the Men of Hope at the House of Prayer. Stanley loved God, his family, and his friends. When Stanley would walk in a room, he would just light it up with personality. He was preceded in death by his dad, Monroe Parrott Jr.; mother, Bertha Lee Parrott (Hemmingway); two daughters, Shelia Marie Parrott and Sharon Ann Parrott; and step-granddaughter, Gabriella Michelle Parrott. Stanley is survived by his wife, Carolyn Parrott (Johnson); ex-wife Sheryl Taylor (Boone); his daughter, Tawana Lynn King (Parrott) and son-in-law Shundale Lamarr King; four stepchildren, Andrew Ross, Patricia Kinison, Jesse Cardwell, and Rebecca Cardwell; three brothers, Monroe Parrott III (Sondra), Bruce Parrott (Jeannette), Marvin Parrott (Alice), and twin sister, Sandra Crittenden (Parrott); four grandkids, DeVonte DuShawn Parrott, Denell Alan Parrott, Ashunta Lynn King, and Jazmine Yolanda King; and nine stepgrandkids, Aaron Williams, Andrew Ross Jr., Ashley Ross, Cecilia Ross, Jordan Ross, Madison Kinison, Michaela Kinison, Keyanna Parrott, and Michael Parrott Jr.; and several nieces and nephews. He also left behind a host of friends that love Stanley dearly and will be greatly missed by us all.
