Steven "Vic" Victor Farkas

Steven Victor “Vic” Farkas, of Bloomington, Indiana, 53 years old, passed away at his house in Greene County on Monday, January 25, 2016 in his sleep and of natural causes. Vic was born on November 12, 1962 in Chattanooga Tennessee. He was the son of Edmund O. Farkas and Piroska (Sinkovics) Farkas. Vic married Leasa Siscoe on August 31, 1991 and they were divorced October 20, 2010. He was preceded in death by his father on December 10, 2009. He is survived by his mother, of Pensacola, Florida; step-son Jarod Nicholas Koon (Katia), of Bloomington, and their children Keira and Ashton; son Trevor Siscoe Farkas and daughter Stefania Michelle “Steffi” Farkas, of Bloomington. Additionally, his brother Dennis Farkas (“Cinda”), of Bloomington, and their children Derek and Lily; his brother Nick Farkas, of Pensacola, Florida, and his children Hudson and Carson. Vic earned his Associate’s Degree in Land Surveying from Vincennes University and attended Indiana University. He worked in the family business of Trico Surveying and Mapping since he was 16. He traveled the Midwest working on pipeline projects. He was elected Monroe County Surveyor in 2000 and served on the Monroe County Plan Commission during his 4-year term. He then was self-employed as owner of Trico Surveying Services, LLC. He loved watching the kids play sports, and helped coach in the early years. He often challenged players with rewards of something from the concession stand. For a big guy, he had pretty fancy soccer foot moves! He was a big fan of Jarod and Trevor’s baseball and Steffi’s softball. Other kids and parents always found Vic entertaining, with his sandals in the snow and hilarious jokes and sometimes heckles. An avid hunter and fisherman, Vic loved the outdoors and was delighted to purchase a tract of land in Greene County, where he built a small lake and cabin and hosted friends and family during white tail deer hunting season. He enjoyed going on hunting and fishing trips with friends in various places like Colorado Springs and Pensacola. He was passionate about fishing excursions in the Gulf of Mexico. Visitation will be at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville on Thursday, January 28, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be on Friday, January 29, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Chambersville Cemetery. Pastor Aaron Strunk will officiate. A Celebration of Life gathering/pitch-in will be held at the Stinesville Lions Club immediately following the committal services at the cemetery.
